Malda is known as the Gateway to North Bengal and this place is very rich in history and heritage. Also previously known as the “English Bazaar” because of the English factory that was established in 1771. The name of the Mosque means 12 doors but the Mosque has only 11 doors. This Mosque was started by Allauddin Hussein Shah but he died before the completion of the Mosque. Later on, his son, Nasiruddin Nusrat Shah completed the construction. This mosque was very unique and was the best example of Arabic-style architecture. It is considered to be the largest Mosque in Malda.

Jagjibanpur is located at a distance of 35 km from Malda town. Firoz Minar is located close to the Dakhil Darwaza. This five-storeyed tower is often called” Malda’s Qutab Minar” because of its design and structure. This Minar was built under the rule of Saifuddin Feroze Shah. The architectural design of this Minar is based on the Tughlaqi style with three storeys of the tower having twelve adjacent faces each and the topmost two storeys are circular in shape.
