You can reach the falls through either of the trekking trails.

<li>The first route is known as Palaruvi Trek, which is 5 KM long and goes through dense forests, streams, caves and minor waterfalls. It takes around 3 hours to cover the trek, and the trekking is allowed from 7 AM - 2 PM.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Second route of the trek is known as the Kurishumala trek. It is relatively challenging. It is about 8 KM long, and it will take about 6 hours to complete the trek. You will get extraordinarily beautiful glimpses of the neighbouring states of the border. This trek is allowed between 7 AM and 11 AM.&nbsp;</li>

It is an ancient temple dedicated to the Lord Thirukuttralanathar, a form of the God Shiva. The inscriptions on the walls are proof that this temple dates back Pandya and Chola Kingdoms. The Travancore King built a Palace near the falls in Kollam during the seventeenth century. As time passed, people started to believe that the Palace has negative vibes. Believing the predictions of the astrologers, the location was later shifted to Coutrallam Falls in Tamil Nadu. Even today you will find ancient structures in the abandoned past. But today, the place has greenery all over and cleanliness. The environmental cleanliness of the falls is taken care of by the Palaruvi river and Forest Conservation Society.
