This is one of the best tourist places in Ravangla. The monastery is also called the Bonpo Monastery and Bon Yung Dung Monastery. This is the only non – Buddhist monastery in Sikkim. The monastery was first established by the late Yung Dung Tsultrim in 1980 CE. This monastery also facilitates the education of young students belonging to less privileged families. This monastery offers an amazing view of the surrounding hills and valleys of southern Sikkim. The architecture of the monastery is Indo-Tibetan in style. The interior of the monastery is decorated with paintings of Bon Demonical Buddha and Bon Deity.

The monastery is built on a raised platform and this gives a spectacular view of the towering mountains, lush greenery, and thick forests with the blue sky as the backdrop. The path to this old monastery is quite difficult and can be reached only by trekking. If you have to go to the Doling Gompa then take the trek road from Barfung Retreat through the forest to reach the monastery. There are about 500 staircases that one has to climb. The steps are cut into the steps of the hill. The Rayong Sunrise Point is also the base of several trekking trails like the Deorali Dara, Tinkitam (famed for rhododendron fields), and Gholey Bhir.

If you have any aches and kinks to iron out, visit Ravangla’s two hot springs - Borong and Ralong, located within a distance of 7 km from each other. High in sulphur, the steaming waters are said to have excellent therapeutic properties. You can stay in temporary tents and huts but carry sleeping bags. Both are on the banks of the Rangit river, so you can soak in nature too. The area is also great for gentle hikes and treks. People from Sikkim, <a href="https://universaladventures.in/tours/12-days-nepal-bike-trip-from-haridwar" target="_blank">Nepal</a>, Bhutan, and other parts of the Eastern Himalayas have been coming to these traditional winter spas, spending weeks soaking in them. Sikkimi has some of the most stunning monasteries and Buddhist pilgrimage sites in Asia. For instance, the Buddha Park located about a kilometre from Ravangla town features a 130 ft statue of the Sakyamuni Buddha (consecrated by the Dalai Lama). About 60 tonnes of copper and some 4 kgs of gold were used for the statue built in the repoussé technique, one of the oldest metal-working practices in the world. The statue looks stunning when it is lit up after sunset.

Located in Sangmoo village, in a quiet, thickly forested area, this is one of the four Sacred Caves of Sikkim where guru Padmasambhava spent some time in meditation. Around 1921, a lama of the Kagyupa sect built a small monastery here. It also has three hermit huts, a rest house, and a path that curves around the complex. It can get moss-covered and slippery during (and immediately after) the rains. So be careful while making your way down.

This place is also known as the Tathagata Tsal.
