About Sundarbans:
- The Sundarbans is an intriguing destination for adventurous travellers and nature enthusiasts, despite its remote and challenging environment. It offers not only a close look at nature but also a glimpse into the traditional lifestyle of the people living in the region.
- One of the main attractions of the Sundarbans is the Burir Dabri Forest Camp, the largest single block of tidal halophytic mangrove forest in the world, named after the beautiful Sundari trees found there in large numbers.
About the Burirdabri Forest Camp:
- The Burirdabri Forest Camp is known for its Burirdabri Watch Tower, mud walk, and mangrove cage trail leading to a viewpoint called Raimongal View Point.
- The layout of the Burir Dabri Forest Camp and the Burirdabri Watch Tower is awe-inspiring.
- The forest here is dense, the creeks are narrow, and nature is extremely raw and wild.
- Visitors first walk over wooden bridges, then through the mud cage, and finally reach a wooden watchtower.
- This walk is full of surprises, as one may come across a few reptiles along the way and often spot a few pug marks.
- Visitors may also feel a sense of fear as they may come across some broken fencing.
- The Burirdabri Watch Tower provides visitors with an eagle's eye view of the Bangladesh Sundarbans across the River Raimongal.
- The boat ride through the Arbesi and Jhila Beats of Bagna and Bashirhat range is a fascinating experience.
- The River Raimangal forms the international boundary between India and Bangladesh, and visitors can observe the Bangladesh Sundarbans from this watchtower.
